SEATTLE — Anglers in Washington have a unique opportunity to introduce others to the joys of sportfishing during Free Fishing Weekend, scheduled for June 7 through the 8th.

During this event, fishing licenses are not required for many species, providing a chance for both seasoned and novice fishers to enjoy the state's abundant waters.

While the weekend allows for fishing without a license, it is important to note that not all species are included. Licenses are still required for shellfish, salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, and halibut.
