Bloomington North finished as runner ups in the IHSAA boys track and field state meet Friday with 45 points.
Coach Charlie Warthan decided to forgo retirement and returned to coach the team this season.
The Cougars set a a state meet record in the 4x800.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Bloomington North track team exited the track and went up about 20 rows of bleachers at North Central to sit with their coach, Charlie Warthan , after winning the 4x800 meter relay. Warthan decided to forgo retirement after 44 years of coaching to continue training his long-distance runners this season. His boys don’t take that for granted.
“We run this for coach,” Bloomington North’s Jack Gentry said.
