OMAHA, Neb. —

The Omaha Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in West Omaha on the night of June 6.

Officers say shortly after 9 pm, they responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in a parking lot near 137th and California streets.

Officers say they located a 17-year-old girl inside a vehicle and an 18-year-old male on the ground nearby. They say both individuals had died from apparent gunshot wounds.

Detectives determined that the male shot the girl before taking his own life.
