BEACON – There is a new twist to an old scam and an alert resident caught it in time. City police said a resident clicked a link on their computer that locked it up. They then received a call from an individual claiming to be Chief Figlia telling them that they had a warrant for their arrest and if they did not pay money they would be arrested. But police said it was a scam and luckily the resident called the police station before doing anything further. The City of Beacon Police Department will never call asking for money, nor will any of its members, officials said. The only circumstance where you might see something referencing the Beacon Police asking for payment from an offense is for overdue parking tickets from our parking ticket processor.
