A team set to tackle anti-social behaviour in Gloucester city centre is launching this month. The City Centre Engagement Team, an ambitious pilot project, is aimed at addressing issues such as street drinking and intimidation.

This new team, launched by Gloucester City Council, will provide a more visible presence and work closely with those involved in street-based nuisance. The two-year initiative will see two engagement officers offering support, including assistance with housing and addiction issues.

The goal of the initiative is to break cycles of behaviour by connecting vulnerable individuals with agencies that can help them make long-term changes. The pilot project will operate alongside the existing Community Protection Officers, CitySafe and the Solace partnership with Glouces
