CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Cedar Bluff man has been arrested following a robbery in the Blue Pond Gap area on Friday, June 6.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies responded to a report of robbery at a residence.
The suspect, now identified as William Justin Tapp, 41, of Cedar Bluff, was accused of stealing an ATV from a homeowner at knifepoint.
During the robbery, the homeowner reportedly retrieved a gun and fired multiple rounds in self-defense.
Tapp then fled the scene on the stolen ATV. However, the ATV was later wrecked in the woods, causing Tapp to continue fleeing, this time on foot.
Deputies initiated an extensive search of the area, unsure if Tapp had been injured by gunfire while fleeing the robbery.
