HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - Alabama will launch its 20th annual back-to-school sales tax holiday, beginning on Friday, July 18 at 12:01 a.m. and ending on Sunday, July 20 at midnight.
This event gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing, free of state sales tax. Local sales tax may still apply.
“When you look at the items that you can purchase that are sales tax free, it’s focused on families and anytime we can help them save a few dollars in their budget, which will help them pay the electric bill or other needs that they have in their lives, I think it’s always a good thing,” Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon said.
“The county is very supportive of that. We’ve always been supportive of it from day one.”
