CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Tens of thousands of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms were recalled because they may fail to notify owners when detecting smoke or carbon monoxide.

According to a release from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 50,000 Apollo America 51000-600 Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors were recalled after learning about an issue in which the detectors could entirely fail to notify users upon coming in contact with smoke and carbon monoxide.

The organization said that the recalled units have "Replace by" text followed by dates between 2034/June to 2034/October.

The manufacturer, Vivint, said that it would send free replacements to all known customers, with more information on how to obtain or install the replacements available on the CPSC's website .
