NEW YORK — Alex Bregman (right quad strain) began his running progression Thursday, manager Alex Cora said.
“If it’s up to him, he’ll be playing tonight,” Cora joked Friday before Boston’s series opener against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium .
Bregman was placed on the 10-day injured list May 24. Cora back then called the injury “significant” and similar to the quad strain Bregman suffered in 2021, which kept him sidelined from June 17-Aug. 25.
“Just going through a progression compared to when he got hurt before with Houston. He feels a lot better,” Cora said.
Bregman is here with the team in New York for a three-game series.
