Airlines regularly make changes to the routes they operate. This includes schedule changes, aircraft adjustments or frequency increases or decreases, to name a few. Airlines also suspend routes due to several factors, including but not limited to operational restrictions, poor yields and/or high expenses.
This month, several changes have been filed for the US-Europe market, where airlines often reallocate capacity to higher-demand and yield routes in the summer months. As we will see below, many of the flights being axed altogether this month are actually a result of operational restrictions. Beyond that, several that flew in May were just charters, hence were not planned to return this month in any case.
