BATTLE CREEK — The fans have spoken.

The winner of the latest Enquirer Athlete of the Week fan poll is DJ Wood of the Harper Creek boys track team.

Fans got behind Wood to help him edge finalists Gavin Deal, Izzie Miller, Cole Guilfoyle, Lilamae Frank and Jack Bidwell. Wood received 64 percent of the vote by the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline. Thanks to his fans, he is being featured in this Enquirer Athlete of the Week Sunday spotlight.

The Beavers made history as Harper Creek had a two-event state champion in the Division 2 MHSAA state track championships for the first time ever at the school. Wood, a junior, was state champion in the 110-meter hurdles, taking first in a time of 14.15.
