WASHINGTON — The U.S. Army is gearing up for a grand celebration of its 250th birthday with a parade set for June 14 in Washington, D.C.
The event, expected to cost between $25 million and $40 million, will feature Abrams, Bradleys, and Strykers rolling down Constitution Avenue. However, the weight of these military vehicles is anticipated to cause road damage.
To mitigate this, the Army is taking measures to protect the parade route. Col. Kamil Sztalkoper, Director of Public Affairs for III Armored Corps, said, "On the tracks themselves, there's a hardened piece of rubber that absorbs the shock and vibration of driving on various surfaces."
