JENNINGS, La. (KPLC) - Police in Jennings are searching for the suspect for a shooting early Saturday morning on Hobart Street.

Jennings Police Department Chief Danny Semmes told 7NEWS the shooting happened around 1:15 a.m.

Semmes said a 17-year-old male was walking down Hobart Street when GMC truck sped by and fired several shots at him, hitting him five times.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was stabilized and then transported to an area trauma center in critical condition, Semmes said.

Police recovered the GMC truck nearby on La. 1126. The truck had been reported stolen two hours earlier from a residence in east Jennings.

The suspect is described as being a young slender black male. Police say he is armed and dangerous.
