The former chairman of Reform UK has announced he will return to the party just 48 hours after he quit .

Speaking to The Sunday Times , Zia Yusuf said the decision was a “mistake” as a result of “exhaustion” and that he had had peace talks with the party leader, Nigel Farage.

Although his formal title has not been established, Yusuf will now lead Reform’s Elon Musk-inspired “Doge” unit aimed at targeting efficiency whilst having a stake in policymaking, fundraising and media appearances for the party.

Yusuf’s previous role will now be split into two, with a front-facing chairman who will “tour the country” and a deputy in charge of organisational matters.
