LSU is two wins away from accomplishing its yearly goal.
This weekend, the Tigers will face West Virginia in the Baton Rouge super regional beginning on Saturday at Alex Box Stadium (1 p.m., ESPN). It's a matchup that nearly occurred in the super regionals last year when West Virginia won the Tuscon regional and LSU came two outs away from winning the Chapel Hill regional.
As the No. 6 national seed, the Tigers won a do-or-die seventh game of the Baton Rouge super regional over Little Rock on Monday to advance to the super regionals. LSU came back from a 5-1 deficit in the second inning to earn a 10-6 win over the Trojans.
No. 2 West Virginia, meanwhile, won all three of its games at the Clemson regional. It took down Kentucky twice in one-run contests and defeated Clemson.
