OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam message relating to DMV fees that went out Saturday morning.
In a social media post sent Saturday, the DCSO says many residents got a text message about outstanding DMV fees.
The DCSO warns those who received the texts to not click on the links ore reply to the message.
If the phone allows it, the DCSO advises that you delete the message and report the number as spam.
The State of Nebraska does not text people to collect on fines.
If you receive a text or an email from someone you don’t know claiming you owe money and is trying to create urgency, it is likely a scam.
