MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A UW-Madison student is juggling his studies and learning to live a ‘new normal’ after being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when he was 18-years-old.

Colin Dugan says he was a perfectly healthy kid for the first 18 years of his life, until he got really sick around his senior year in high school.

“I kind of ignored it a lot because I didn’t really want to cause any problems. I was like it’s probably just something I’m eating,” he said.

The 21-year-old took a trip to the hospital, where he was quickly diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.

“A lot of people, their IBD diagnosis is over several months. Mine was right away within like 12 hours,” Dugan said. “So, it was definitely a lot all at one time.”
