A deputy shot and injured a man after he was punched in the face several times, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff John Mina said the man was armed with two guns when he attacked the deputy behind a store in Pine Hills just before 8 a.m. Saturday.
In a media briefing, Mina said the deputy saw a man acting suspiciously in a small fenced-in area behind the Save Discount store at 2793 N. Hiawassee Road.
Mina said the deputy approached the man to ask what he was doing, and the man jumped over the fence, grabbed a bag and started leaving.
"Our deputy tried to detain him and arrest him," Mina said. "And then the man started punching our deputy in the face. He punched him in the face probably about 10 times."
