Calgarians are waking up to hazy skies on Saturday morning that are expected to linger through the weekend.
Environment Canada’s air quality health index is at 4 for the city as of Saturday morning — meaning a moderate risk.
660 NewsRadio meteorologist says the change in air quality is due to a change in direction in the wind and the health index should sit somewhere between 4 and 5 for the rest of the day.
“This means we can expect to stick with the smell of smoke through the weekend,” he says.
According to Environment Canada, moderate risk means at-risk individuals should consider reducing or rescheduling any strenuous outdoor activities.
The general population should modify their outdoor plans if they start experiencing symptoms like coughing and throat irritation.
