The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) are investigating the death of a 61-year-old man who was in RCMP custody.

On June 3, Kamsack RCMP arrested the man in the town, which is around 80 km northeast of Yorkton.

He was wanted by Sask. RCMP on multiple outstanding warrants and made his first court appearance on June 4. He remained in RCMP custody for another pending court appearance on June 6.

Before that scheduled court date, the man was found unresponsive by a cell guard at the Kamsack detachment on June 5.
