GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Lewis and Clark journey is a significant part of Montana's history, especially in Great Falls, where the Corps of Discovery spent considerable time during their expedition. June marks the anniversary of their encounter with the Great Falls on June 13, 1805.
In their journals, Lewis described the falls as a "sublimely divine spectacle." The explorers discovered additional falls the following day, spending over a month navigating the area, which was the longest time spent outside of winter camp.
