ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochester is set to host a major chess event on July 18-20 at the Mayo Civic Center, potentially marking the city's largest chess tournament yet.

The 2025 Rochester Chess Open, organized by Rochester Chess, will feature over 150 players, including top chess masters from Minnesota and the Midwest. Participants will compete for more than $5,000 in prizes.

Alongside this, the 2025 Midwest Regional Championship for Women & Girls will take place, showcasing top female talent in the region.
