CINCINNATI (WXIX) -A couple of nonprofit organizations are teaming up to organize a prom for critically ill children, teenagers, and young adults.

Bonnie Collins, the President of the Live Like Maya Foundation , is among the organizers of the event scheduled for November 9 at the Matthew 25 Ministries event center in Blue Ash.

Collins says her 14-year-old daughter, Maya, died in 2017 after a six and a half year battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

“We never got to see her turn 16, go to prom, get a date, get married. There’s so many things we never got to experience with her,” Collins said.

So she started the Live Like Maya Foundation to support families with critically ill children and fund research for acute myeloid leukemia.
