LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Laurel County teacher was found not guilty by a jury.

Brittany Farmer was arrested in February for charges of criminal abuse and assault. According to court records, she was acquitted on both charges during a jury trial on Wednesday.

According to a social media post from Laurel County Public Schools, the district was notified in February by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office of an arrest warrant issued for North Laurel Middle School teacher Brittany Farmer for charges of criminal abuse.

The sheriff’s office says the alleged victim in the case is Farmer’s child. They say the incident happened after school hours and off campus.

School officials say Farmer had been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the charges.
