CAPE MAY — The New Jersey Historical Commission will unveil the first New Jersey Black Heritage Trail Historical marker in a ceremony at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The marker will be placed at 720 Franklin St. in Cape May and will recognize the Franklin Street School as well as the determination of Cape May's Black community to provide equal education opportunities for their children.

In addition to the marker being unveiled, the ceremony will also acknowledge the Macedonia Baptist Church/Harriet Tubman Museum of New Jersey. The church and museum will be accepted as sites on the NJ Black Heritage Trail as well.
