UNO baseball coach Dax Norris is leaving the program after one season as head coach according to multiple reports.

Norris was elevated to head coach one month before the start of the 2025 season after Blake Dean resigned . Dean had been UNO’s head coach since 2016, with Norris having served as the Privateers pitching coach since the 2022 season.

UNO had a 28-26 record and finished runner-up in the Southland Conference tournament under Norris in 2025. The news of him leaving effective June 30 was first reported by WDSU’s Sharief Ishaq.

Norris’ college coaching career dates back to his alma mater Alabama, where he started off as a hitting instructor in 2009. He then joined Florida International’s staff as a pitching coach before his time at UNO.
