WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Police officers from the West Plains Police Department (WPPD) responded to a disturbance at Holiday Inn Express on Preacher Roe Blvd. early Saturday morning, June 7, where they discovered a woman had been shot.

According to a WPPD news release, officers were dispatched to the hotel at 5:46 a.m. after a caller stated a person was on the premises and refusing to leave.

Another person called shortly thereafter and reported a firearm had been discharged, the release says.

Upon arrival, WPPD officers spoke with a witness who said they watched the suspect fire several rounds into a vehicle as it fled the parking lot.

At 5:58 a.m., a 23-year-old man from Little Rock, Arkansas, was identified as a suspect and placed into custody on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
