Fayetteville-Manlius flag football accomplished more than any first-year program could imagine.

The Hornets captured the Section III Class A title and made their way to the New York State semifinal round at Cortland High School on Saturday.

Despite a 14-7 loss to undefeated Scarsdale of Section I, F-M coach Ryan Aldrich refused to let his team put their heads down.

“Ladies, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Aldrich said in a post-game speech. “You have accomplished everything we could possibly ask for and more. I’ll have great memories of this entire season. I’m so proud of this whole team.”

Scarsdale, a state finalist last season, has scored 25 or more points in 15 of its 20 games
