1KEARNY, NJ — A suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with a violent armed robbery at Seabra Foods on Schuyler Avenue, following a coordinated response by Kearny Police and the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m., when a suspect allegedly attempted to steal merchandise and then produced a black handgun, striking an employee during a physical confrontation. The suspect fled on foot, and the injured victim was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to a trauma center for further treatment.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspect’s tattoos, leading to his identification as Edsel M. Brown, 35, of Kearny. He was tracked to his gym, No Label Fitness, which was closed to the public at the time. A
