VIENNA — As temperatures heat up and farmers markets open across Trumbull County, the township’s action committee hopes to make their inaugural one a success while supporting a good cause.

Today marks the first day of the Vienna Farmers Market at the township’s bicentennial park, hosted by the Vienna Community Action Committee (VCAC). The market will run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 30, with Aug. 9 being an off weekend because of Vienna Home Day.

VCAC President Stephanie Garito said inspiration for the farmers market came about when its members were looking for a way to fundraise for the community garden project. She said the township hasn’t had anything similar since the Vienna Garden Club, which was formed in 1951 and was last documented in 1999.
