MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. — The search was called off for the night but will resume Sunday morning after a kayaker went missing after he and his party capsized their kayaks in fast waters in Loyalsock Creek in Montoursville on Saturday morning, according to officials.

The three kayakers in two kayaks managed to go half a mile downstream. They hit rough water, causing their kayaks to capsize.

Two of the kayakers managed to make it to shore. The third kayaker never came back up out of the water.

Five fire companies and boats responded, along with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Montoursville Police, and the Geisinger Life Flight.

First responders used drones and boats to search the river. Conditions in the creek are high due to recent rainfall.
