BATON ROUGE - The visiting West Virginia Mountaineers took an early 1-0 lead on the LSU Tigers in game one of the NCAA Super Regional at Alex Box Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
LSU starting pitcher Kade Anderson was struck in the back of his pitching arm with a sharp liner back to the mound in the second inning and the Mountaineers were able to score from third after sacrificing a pair of baserunners over.
Anderson was back out to pitch in the third inning and retired the side in order.
The Tigers have yet to record a hit off of Mountaineer starter Griffin Kirn through three innings.
LSU and West Virginia will play game two of the Super Regional on Sunday with a scheduled first-pitch set for 5 p.m..
