Police are investigating the discovery of two possible explosive devices in southwest Calgary on Saturday.

Calgary Police Service (CPS) say officers were called to Weaselhead Park around 11:30 a.m. for reports of one device.

CPS says a possible World War II explosive device was found by someone using a metal detector.

The area has been taped until the Bomb Unit are able to “safely contain the device.”

People are being asked to stay away from the area.

Homes evacuated on residential street

About 40 minutes later, officers were called to a home in the community of Woodlands for a similar incident.

A metal box with suspect explosives was found while someone was cleaning the home on Woodview Crescent SW around 12:10 p.m., according to CPS.
