DETROIT, MI – A 30-year-old Detroit man died Friday night after losing control of a motorcycle on I-96 in Detroit, according to the Michigan State Police.

The crash occurred on I-96 near Evergreen Road at 9:25 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

The Detroit Regional Communications Center received reports that a motorcycle was down on the freeway’s left shoulder, and its driver was missing, police said.

Upon arriving at the scene, troopers discovered the motorcycle’s driver lying motionless in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on I-96 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck the concrete wall between the freeway’s eastbound and westbound lanes.
