CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. (KKTV) - Many people in Cripple Creek spent their Saturday in bed for Pearl DeVere Day. The Old Homestead House Museum hosted its 6th Annual Bed Race in honor and celebration of Pearl, who was a party girl herself.
Pearl DeVere built the Old Homestead House, now a museum, back in the 1800s. The building has stood strong since.
“She ran it until she died, which was in June of 1897,” Old Homestead House Museum’s manager and tour guide Kirstie Crawford explained. “Then Hazel came in, she continued running it, and everybody always has made sure that this has stayed a very important piece of Cripple Creek history.
