COLUMBIA — Hundreds of athletes will compete in the Missouri State Senior Games this weekend in 21 different events, ranging from archery and line dancing to pickleball and track and field.

The Senior Games is an Olympic-style sports festival hosting competitors age fifty years or older. According to the Senior Games website , its main goal is to "provide an annual physical fitness event that promotes a social, competitive, athletic, and recreational activity for older adults."

In true Olympic fashion, each first, second and third place winner of each event will win medals for their age group. The Games is considered an "open" event, meaning that participation is open to residents from any state.
