HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The search for a missing 21-year-old woman off East Oahu has been called off.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Honolulu Fire Department have suspended their search for Khilye Hamadani Friday night.
Hamadani was last seen on Monday when she arrived at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
Honolulu police said Hamadani’s phone was traced to Spitting Caves, and her bag was found near China Walls.
Crews said they searched 1,200 square miles of ocean off East Oahu since Tuesday.
HFD suspended their search at 5:30 p.m. The Coast Guard later suspended their search at 7 p.m.
“Suspending a search is one of the most difficult decisions to make and only made after careful consideration of all available information,” said Lt. Cmdr. Michelle Rice, search and rescue
