West Virginia baseball coach Steve Sabins revealed how his team was battling the heat vs. LSU at Alex Box Stadium in Game 1 of the Baton Rouge super regional.
With temperatures over 90 degrees on Saturday afternoon, Sabins was asked during a TV interview on the ESPN broadcast how West Virginia was managing to play through the hot conditions. The first-year coach said that Gold Bond was the substance of choice.
"Nothing up to this point, just a lot of Gold Bond," Sabins said when asked how the team was handling a temperature that felt like 103 degrees. "Our guys are gold bonded up and drinking a lot of water."
Gold Bond powder and sprays are often used by athletes during hot and humid conditions to battle excess moisture and provide a cooling effect.
