NORFOLK, Va. —

UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: Strong storms in Suffolk and moving east

Strong thunderstorms are expected to spread across the area through 8:15 p.m.

At 7:27 p.m., radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Crittenden, or near Churchland, moving east at 20 mph.

The storm could bring heavy rain and lightning. Reduced visibility and minor flooding will be possible.

The storms will spread from Churchland and northern Suffolk at 7:35 pm. All the way to the Norfolk International Airport area at 8:05 p.m.

If you’re outdoors, seek shelter inside a building.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m.: Severe thunderstorm warning issued

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect through 8 p.m. in northeastern North Carolina.
