Roman Santos' hands were a blur for one whole minute Saturday morning at Sweetwater Sound as he competed for the title of World’s Fastest Drummer.

As the clock counted down to zero, Santos, a Fort Wayne resident, walked away with a score of 801, beating his previous score of 690 and earning a third-place ranking for the day so far. It was Santos's second time attempting the challenge.

The World’s Fastest Drummer Challenge was part of Sweetwater Sound's second annual DrumFest, hosted at its Fort Wayne campus. A score of 700-800 is pretty good, said Pete Van Baalen, Sweetwater’s director of business operations, adding that some drummers have posted scores up to 1,200 beats over 60 seconds.
