GRAY SUMMIT — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a center in Gray Summit to help people affected by the storms and tornado of March 14-15.
The center is open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Gray Summit, 2705 Highway 100.
FEMA can help pay for basic home repairs, personal property losses and uninsured or underinsured storm-related needs as childcare, transportation, medical needs, dental expenses and funeral expenses.
However, the agency is not yet helping people affected by the much more damaging tornado of May 16. Before it can act, the agency requires an official designation from the president that a major disaster has occurred.
