Get ready for more heat and another round of potentially severe storms as Eastern North Carolina remains locked in an unsettled weather pattern. A combination of summertime humidity, afternoon heating, and several waves of upper-level disturbances are helping to fire up showers and thunderstorms through the weekend, and some of those could pack a punch.

The threat for strong to severe storms continues, especially into the evening hours. Damaging wind gusts, localized flooding from heavy rain, and frequent lightning are all possible. Most storms should diminish by 10 PM as we lose daytime heating.
