TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Today was the second day of the Special Olympics in Terre Haute and athletes and their families gathered at Indiana State campus to kick off today's events.

Hundreds of people came out to Indiana State University for the Special Olympics on Saturday and so far, it's been a hit. Fulton Mraz says track and field has been his favorite event. Last year he won a gold medal. Mraz says he is looking forward to other events being held over the weekend.

"It feels pretty good. Um I'm enjoying it. The weather's nice and the dance is tonight, so I'm gonna party tonight and wear some gold suits, " said Mraz.

This weekend's activities included bingo, pickleball, and basketball. Athlete Tanner Wills is competing in track and field, the main javelin, and shotput.
