SCRANTON, Pa. — Water rushing down the mountain onto Keyser Avenue in West Scranton Saturday morning overwhelmed storm drains and ditches, but the road remained open.

Meanwhile, a broken water main on the 1100 Block of Blair Avenue in North Scranton closed down part of the road as water came up through the pavement. Mayor Paige Cognetti says the city has been working diligently all morning to get Scranton cleaned up.

"We are grateful for our DPW, fire department, and police department for acting quickly overnight in what was a pretty significant rain event. We're down here on Merrifield right now where DPW is almost done clearing our the pond here at the pump station, so we've got active spots in our usual hotspots," says Cognetti.
