DELTA TWP. — Practices this season for the Portland softball team have been very competitive and junior pitcher Bella Spitzley has noticed a strong desire from teammates to fight until the end in those sessions.

That mentaility was on display plenty throughout the spring, whether it was winning the district title on a walk-off hit or outlasting Williamston in extra innings in a regional semifinal.

And while Portland had its state tournament run halted June 7 with a 6-1 regional final loss to Coldwater, that fight is one of the traits that will be remembered from the strong spring for the Raiders.
