AUBURN, Ala. (WBTW) -- Coastal Carolina's baseball team is headed to its first College World Series appearance in a decade after sweeping Auburn University in Super Regional play this weekend.
The Chanticleers scored three runs in the seventh inning to key a 4-1 win, including consecutive doubles by outfielder Sebastian Alexander that kept pressure on the Tigers.
Auburn scored in the second inning on a base hit by Chase Fralick. CCU threatened in nearly every inning, but didn't break through until Alexander's lead-off double in the seventh.
The victory pushed CCU's win streak to 23. CCU is the first team to clinch a bid in this year's CWS, which begins Thursday.
