Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst’s “ we all are going to die” response to a constituent’s assertion that Medicaid cuts are going to lead to deaths has drawn national attention and received widespread condemnation from Democrats who have criticized the impact of the potential Medicaid cuts. Her subsequent sarcastic “apology” video ends with “... for those that would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you to embrace my lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”

Perhaps Ms. Ernst might want to remember that her Lord and Savior commanded his followers to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, minister to the sick, be gracious to the poor and love their neighbors. Given her attitude and actions, perhaps she should be concerned about her own eternal and everlasting life.
