GOULD, Arkansas — On June 6, the nearly two-week long manhunt for escaped Arkansas prisoner Grant Hardin ended.

Hardin had escaped from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock on May 25 while serving sentences for murder and rape. He was found by Arkansas law enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol just over a mile from the prison.

Now that he's captured, what happens next?

Hardin was taken into custody and transferred to Varner Supermax Unit in Gould.

Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) officials said Varner is the most secure facility in the state, an upgrade from the medium-security prison Hardin was previously residing in.

Rand Champion, an ADC spokesperson, said Hardin will be housed at Varner Supermax moving forward.
