EASTERN CAROLINA, N.C. (WITN) - On this First Alert Weather Day, we’re following power outages in multiple Eastern Carolina cities and counties as storms move through.

The city of New Bern is reporting 2,277 outages.

Pamlico County is seeing 2,766 outages, according to Power Outages | Ready NC , and Onslow County is at 205 outages, according to JOEMC Outage Map .

Duke Energy is reporting 594 outages in Beaufort County.

A combination of summertime humidity, afternoon heating, and several waves of upper-level disturbances is helping to fire up showers and thunderstorms. The threat for strong to severe storms continues, especially into the evening hours. Damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and frequent lightning are all potential hazards.
