TAOS, N.M. —
Two paintings stolen from the Harwood Museum of Art are back on display after 45 years.
After a lengthy FBI investigation, the works by Victor Higgins and Joseph Henry Sharp were recovered undamaged.
The paintings were sold at auction in 2018 and had once been in the home of two art thieves — information not revealed until they both died.
"I knew this day would someday come," said Lou Schachter, a writer for true-crime-road-trip.com, "but I also knew it might not get here for a long time. So I'm not surprised."
The Harwood Museum of Art is located at 238 Ledoux St. in Taos. It is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
